CPR and First Aid Programs
Schaefferstown EMS offers several classes to make sure that the members of our community are just as prepared as we are for any emergency! Our classes are taught by members that are certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI). If you wish to take any of the classes list below, please use the form at the bottom of the page to submit your request!
Basic First Aid
The ASHI Basic First Aid program is designed for individuals that are not healthcare providers or professional rescuers, but are required by their employer or just desire to have some extra knowledge in the event of an emergency. There are no requirements/prerequisites to taking this class.
CPR & AED
The ASHI CPR & AED program is designed for individuals that are not healthcare providers or professional rescuers, but are required by their employer or just desire to have some extra knowledge in the event of an emergency.
This program can be offered in multiple different formats:
*Adult Only – Common for workplace training
*Adult/Child – When more specific training is required
*Adult/Child/Infant – Broad training for all situations
The CPR & AED program can be and is often incorporated into the Basic First Aid program for a comprehensive training program.
While there are no requirements/prerequisites to taking this class, CPR can be a physically challenging skill to learn. We recommend that individuals taking this class be 14 or older at the time of the class. If a young friend or family member would like to attend with you and cannot complete the skills, they will NOT be charged for the full class!
Basic Life Support (Formally CPR Pro for the Professional Rescuer)
The ASHI Basic Life Support program is designed for professional rescuers and healthcare providers. This program covers all age groups and emergencies as outlined by the American Heart Association Guidelines. This CPR program is accepted by the Pennsylvania Department of Health for EMS providers.
Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid
The ASHI Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid program is designed to meet national standards for pediatric training for individuals who are required to be certified in pediatric emergencies. This program is recognized in Pennsylvania for childcare workers that are required to have training in pediatric emergencies. There are no requirements/prerequisites to taking this class.
